The dates for the sixth edition of Fantboi ( Sant Boi de Llobregat Fantastic Film Festival ) are approaching, and the festival organizers are finalizing the details of the program and events that will fill Sant Boi with blood and terror between May 7 and 10 .
This year’s poster is the work of a talent as established as Raquel Gu , an unstoppable artist who combines graphic humor with various scientific educational comics celebrated worldwide, such as The Periodic Table or Scientists: present, past and future – as well as her analysis of female discrimination in Is She a Witch?, where she analyzes the truths and myths behind this word.
Following the leit The theme of the festival’s sixth edition, Vive la guillotine! (Long Live the Guillotine! ) , is set during the height of this method of execution: the French Revolution. The result is a marvelous drawing in which Raquel has made use of the latest advances in Human Intelligence. In the poster, the artist has recreated numerous myths and icons of French cinema and culture, encouraging viewers to identify all the characters that appear in the image.
And those who will also have to draw on Human Intelligence will be this year’s Jury members: Juan Pérez , producer of the Cutrecon festival and one of the members of the Aeterna team in Madrid; Ivana Miño , an actress with a consolidated career who has worked with Robert Englund or Michael Ironside among others, and who since 2024 has directed the Tabaca festival ( Mythological Film Festival of the Pyrenees ); the multi-award-winning director of short films, and soon of feature films, Pol Digger completes the trio of jurors who will have to choose between the various proposals of this year.
As the first titles in the official selection, festival director Hugo Cobo announced three films that are sure to delight audiences: The Krampus Rises , the latest installment featuring the malevolent creature, resurfaced this time due to climate change to make life a living hell for three young couples in a cocktail of terror, scares, and laughter. Inferno , by Belgian director Brandon Gotto , is based on horrific Belgian criminal cases such as those of Michel Founiret and Marc Dutroux, resulting in a thriller bordering on horror, filled with death, sadism, and unsettling atmospheres. This first batch concludes with the Spanish film The Thing in the Fog, directed by Chedey Reyes and co-starring Elena de Lara and Martín Garabal , in which the pilots of an airplane become the only line of defense against an extradimensional invasion.
