San Boi de Llobregat. A month from the start of its fourth edition, the Fantboi (fantastic film festival of Sant Boi de Llobregat) turns on the engines so that the year 2024 will be special for all those who come to the festival.
In the meeting that will take place with the press and spectators on Friday, June 14 in the Forum of L’Fnac L’Illa, the director and one of the festival programmers, Hugo Cobo and Ana M. Vargas, will reveal the programming of this year in the company of film director Chico Morera and actress/producer Sara Gómez, who will present the film Blood Room that can be seen throughout the festival.
According to the organizers, since this year’s leitmotif is «only happens in Japan», what better starting point than a sample of Takashi Miike’s visual universe: Imprint, the thirteenth chapter of the television anthology series Masters of horror that It was withdrawn from broadcast due to its graphic and disturbing content. Starring Billy Drago and Youki Kudoh, the story follows the story of an American who, during the Victorian era, constantly travels around Japan looking for a prostitute with whom he is in love. Being one of Miike’s works, love will be the least weighty emotion throughout a very intense footage.
Likewise, El Fantboi has confirmed this year’s jury, betting on young faces in tune with the spirit of the festival and its spectators. This is Veki Velilla, a revelation actress thanks to her protagonist in Garcia! HBO’s pulp thriller based on the comic by Santiago García and Luis Bustos; Noelia Galán, the Tik Toker @noesmanera who has several hundred thousand followers thanks to her talks about horror movies and the most impactful Truecrime stories; closes the jury José Luis Algar, specialist in FX and animation with works as famous and recognizable as Paquita Salas, Veneno, La Mesías or the video clip Punto Muerte by Miss Cafeína & Ana Torroja among others.
One of the most anticipated sessions of each Fantboi is the marathon of short films in the official section, which this year features such multi-awarded titles as Sincopat (Pol Diggler), Ratón de Biblioteca (Javier Yáñez), Hado (Rubi Rock) and even the most daring pearls such as Face Me (Cándida Massielle) among others. More than three hours filled with emotion, horror, humor, violence and lots of fun. The session will be opened by the winning short of the #FantboiLab of the Rubió y Ors de Sant Boi Institute, Back to work (Judit Muñoz)
The Fantboi Lab, which this year opens its proposal also for adults, will count on the presence of twelve short film projects, among which the winner will receive advice and will be guaranteed screening in the next edition of the festival.
From the 11th to the 14th of July, Sant Boi de Llobregat will be taken over by the festival with proposals for all ages and public both in the cinemas and on the street. The sale of season tickets for the sessions is now available
